New Publication by the ESN Board: Separate Residency in ‘Neonatal Critical Care Medicine’ in Europe
Members of the ESN board, along with prominent members of the ESPR, have published a comment highlighting the European perspective on the recognition of Neonatology, arguing that a structured, UEMS-endorsed subspecialty training and accreditation framework – including neonatal critical care – is already well established across much of Europe.
It outlines the role of the ESN and its educational programmes in supporting high-quality, standardised training and professional recognition.
The authors conclude by supporting international efforts to strengthen recognition of neonatal critical care medicine and encourage greater alignment between European and North American frameworks.
